week 1

day 1.

arrival and welcome dinner

welcome to the hatchery place! arrivals happen throughout the day, so settle into your room at your own pace, explore the house. in the evening, we’ll kick things off with a warm welcome dinner at our favorite local restaurant with some of our facilitators. simple vegetarian food, good conversations, and a chance to ease into the retreat vibe. if you’re the only retreat resident this month (lucky you!), it’ll feel like a private retreat, with everything tailored just for you.

day 2.

a day to yourself

today is completely yours. since it’s only day 2, take this as a slow start to ease into the retreat. chill at the house, unpack, and settle in. you could cook yourself a simple meal in the shared kitchen, take a walk around the neighborhood to explore, or find a cozy spot to read or journal.

if you prefer to unwind, just relax in your room or soak in the quiet vibe of the space. tomorrow morning’s yoga session will gently guide you into the rhythm of the retreat, so today is all about settling into your own pace.

day 3.

yoga morning & local brunch

it’s the first monday of the month, you’re in for a treat. the morning kicks off with a calming yoga session guided by junn. after yoga, we’ll head out to a local mamak for a true malaysian brunch experience.

this isn’t just for retreat residents, our local community sometimes join us too. over roti canai and teh tarik, you’ll share laughs, stories, and maybe even make a new friend or two. once brunch wraps up, the rest of the afternoon is yours. it’s a good time to dive into a personal project—it’s your time to spend as you like.

day 4.

woodworking workshop afternoon

your morning is yours to enjoy however you like. linger over breakfast, take a stroll around the neighborhood, or simply relax at the house. it’s your time to ease into the day at your own pace.

in the afternoon, we’ll send you to kevin’s workshop in pj by grab. there, you’ll spend four hours from 2pm - 6pm crafting the piece you chose before your retreat. kevin will guide you step by step, whether you’re completely new to woodworking or already have some experience.

day 5.

body movement morning

start your day with a unique gyrotonic body movement session with marcus. this is a gentle yet powerful way to stretch, strengthen, and release tension. this session ties the week together, reconnecting you with your body and helping you feel more aligned as you move through the retreat. it’s not just exercise; it’s a way to reset and flow.

the rest of the day is yours. use the time to catch up on a personal project, share conversations with fellow retreat residents, or simply focus on whatever’s on your personal agenda.

day 6.

intuitive painting afternoon

your morning is yours. take it slow, enjoy breakfast, or simply chill and soak in the quiet vibe of the house.

in the afternoon, at 2:15 pm, you’ll head to elaine’s home studio, just a 5-minute grab ride away. there, she’ll guide you through an intuitive painting session from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. it’s a chance to let go, explore your creativity, and express yourself freely.

the evening is yours to unwind. reflect on the day, journal your thoughts, or treat yourself to your favorite dinner from an online delivery app. it’s your time to recharge.

day 7.

the transformation game day

today is all about the transformation game, guided by ai jou. it’s a playful yet profound way to reflect on your life, uncover personal strengths, and identify the blocks that hold you back. the game mirrors your life with surprising clarity, offering insights and space for transformation.

if you’re solo in the retreat house this month, you’ll have a private session with ai jou, lasting about 3 hours. with fellow retreat residents, it can take up to 8 hours, but don’t worry—we’ll break for lunch together if it runs that long. the key is to flow with the activity and not schedule any important tasks for the day. it’s a chance to dive deep, reflect, and gently work toward your own transformation.

if you’re here for a 1-week retreat, the evening is a good time to pack your bags in preparation for tomorrow’s checkout.

week 2

day 8.

goodbyes & woodworking workshop

this morning, we say goodbye to the 1-week residents. it’s always a mix of emotions—seeing new friends head off but knowing they’re leaving with something special from their time here.

for those staying on, the afternoon is for your second woodworking workshop with kevin. you’ll dive back into the tools and materials, adding more to your piece or starting something fresh. it’s about slowing down, focusing, and finding joy in working with your hands.

the morning is yours to linger, reflect, or just enjoy the quiet pace before heading to kevin’s workshop. a new rhythm begins as the retreat carries on.

day 9.

free day

today is all yours. sleep in, linger over breakfast, or explore the neighborhood at your own pace. if you’re feeling adventurous, it’s a great day to head into kl city for some sightseeing. ask us for recommendations—we’re happy to share our favorite spots!

there’s no agenda, no rush—just a day to do whatever feels right. use it to recharge, reflect, or savor the simple pleasure of having time to yourself.

day 10.

monday light hiking day

it’s monday, which means it’s time for our light hiking day with a few friends from the local community. this week, we’re heading to bukit kiara, a beginner-friendly hill that offers fresh air and gentle trails. the hike runs from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, so be sure to eat your breakfast beforehand and join us for carpooling before we set off.

after the hike, we’ll enjoy a hearty local vegetarian banana leaf meal—one of our absolute favorites. expect to be back home by around 2:30 pm. and if the weather plays along, we might even stop by our favorite local pool for a refreshing swim.

it’s a day for connection, movement, and just a bit of adventure. bring your energy and a smile!

day 11.

free day

today is wide open for you to spend as you like. it’s a great day to take it slow, perhaps try your hand at cooking something in our shared kitchen. with local markets nearby, you can pick up fresh ingredients and experiment with new flavors—it’s all part of the retreat experience.

or, pick a book from our mini library and dive into it. by now, you should be settling into the rhythm of slow living.

day 12.

intuitive painting afternoon

this afternoon, you’ll return to elaine’s studio for your second intuitive painting session, running from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. today, we’ll dive into the theme of lotus contemplation—exploring its symbolism of growth, resilience, and beauty emerging from stillness.

no painting experience? no problem. this session is about connecting with your inner self through the act of creating. it’s a reflective and calming process, perfect for anchoring yourself as the retreat winds down.

the morning and evening are yours to spend however you like—take it slow and savor the day.

day 13.

your day

today is yours to enjoy at your own pace. if you’re in the mood for something grounding, spend some time tending to the mini garden by the porch. water the plants, rearrange a few pots, or simply enjoy the feel of soil between your fingers.

feeling active? take a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood park with a fellow resident or pick up something fresh from the market to prepare a simple meal. feeling inspired? pull out your art supplies and add a few touches to your painting from earlier in the week.

if you’re in the mood for some culture, we suggest going on an art museum tour in the city. feel free to ask us for recommendations—we’ll point you to some of the best spots in town. or, book a massage for yourself at taipan to wind down your day.

day 14.

tea & tranquility afternoon

this afternoon, join shan for a serene tea sipping moment—a ritual of mindfulness and connection. it’s not just about tea; it’s about slowing down, being present, and savoring each moment.

this session is open to a small group from the local community, creating an intimate space for quiet sharing and connection. as shan guides you through the ceremony, you’ll experience the calming rhythm of this ancient practice—a beautiful way to reflect on your journey and bring a sense of closure to your retreat.

if your 2-week retreat ends tomorrow, the evening is a good time to pack up and prepare for your checkout. take a moment to reflect on everything you’ve experienced and created during your time here.

week 3 - 4

day 17.

park walk monday

by now, you’ve likely settled into your rhythm here—working on your project, finding your flow, and diving into the retreat pace. today, we’re stepping away from that momentum for a refreshing break with a park walk.

it’s a light, easy stroll with some local friends through one of our favorite green spaces. nothing intense, just time to stretch your legs, breathe deeply, and let your mind wander. we’ll start mid-morning and walk for about an hour, pausing to take in the sights or share a few stories along the way.

after the walk, we’ll stop for a casual brunch or coffee, keeping it simple and unhurried. by early afternoon, you’ll be back at the house, ready to either dive back into your project or let the day drift gently along. sometimes, all it takes is a small change of scenery to refresh the mind and spark new ideas.

day 21.

local board game night

tonight, we’re heading out to our favorite board game cafe for an evening of fun and connection. we’ll carpool together, making the short trip to a cozy spot filled with endless games to choose from.

whether you’re into strategy games or just here for laughs, the night is all about relaxing, sharing good moments, and maybe even discovering a new favorite game. with fellow retreat residents and local friends joining, it’s a lighthearted way to shake up your routine and enjoy a different kind of community connection.

day 24.

another hiking monday

if you’re still with us, it’s time for another hiking monday! this week, we’re heading to a different trail—fresh views, fresh air, and a new adventure to enjoy. it’s a gentle hike, suitable for all levels, with plenty of time to soak in the surroundings and connect with the group.

we’ll start mid-morning, carpooling together to the trailhead. the hike will take about two hours, followed by a stop for another of our favorite post-hike meals. expect to be back at the house by early afternoon, feeling refreshed and ready to ease back into your rhythm.

day 28.

reflection night

tonight, we gather in a circle for reflection night, a meaningful way to bring your retreat journey to a close. led by ai jou, this evening is about sharing stories, deep conversations, and guided reflection exercises. with members of the local community joining, it’s an intimate and heartfelt space to process your experiences, explore insights, and connect with others on a deeper level.

for month-long residents, it’s also a gentle reminder that your time here is coming to an end. the next day or two will be for packing up and saying your goodbyes, taking with you not just memories but the transformations and connections you’ve gained.

tonight is about celebrating how far you’ve come and carrying that energy forward. it’s a special way to close this chapter.
