A sharing about music making with Javen Yap
What is a liveset? A liveset is a form of music performance that combines musical instruments or controllers with music technologies in a live performance setup in order to go beyond the limitation of what one instrument can only do when performed by a musician.
The building of a liveset is both an art and a science. The artist takes all the building blocks that make up their liveset- melodies, rhythms, basslines- and builds them into something greater than the sum of its parts.
In this session, Javen is going to do a liveset performance and to demonstrate how he creates his live performance and the concept behind building it.
Music related background is not required in order to attend this session, but if you are a musician yourself, you want to learn more about how you can utilize technology to enhance your live performance and such, there will also be a Q&A section after the liveset performance, for you to ask questions.
About Javen Yap
Javen Yap is a music composer, producer and content creator who has strong influences rooted in Pop, Electronic music, MathRock, Ambience, etc. He studied music production at International College of Music (ICOM) Malaysia, and later at Musicians Institute, Hollywood.
As a composer, he was formerly a songwriter under Warner Chappell before he went fully independent. Being able to express himself through music and feeling hope is his biggest gain at creating music, he wants others to feel the same thing too. As a music producer, he has been actively involved in the music industry since 2014 and has produced music for albums, jingles, TV soundtracks, short films, and more in Malaysia and LA respectively during different times.
In 2021, he set up Good Noise Productions by continuing to provide music related content to a broader audience.
