Time Bank / Gift Exchange circle

  • The Hatchery Place 49 Jalan USJ 11/3d Subang Jaya, Selangor, 47620 Malaysia (map)

Do you know about TIME BANK?

Time Banking is a time-based currency. Give one hour of service to another, and receive one time credit. You can use the credits in turn to receive services — or you can donate them to others. An hour of service is always one time credit regardless of the nature of the service performed.

How does it work?

A Time Bank member provides an hour of community service to another member. The Time Bank records the hour of service and credits the contributing member. Then, that contributing member can spend that hour credited for a service that anyone else in the community offers.

What is the Sharing Economy?

The Sharing Economy is an alternative socio-economic system created by the sharing of resources – human, physical, and intellectual. It includes goods, skills and services by different people in the community. Its heart is the people who are sharing and collaborating across all aspects of social and economic life.

Since Time Banking concept is new in Malaysia, The Hatchery Place’s community took the initiative to start our very first Time Bank meetup inviting others who are interested to hear and participate in the gift economy movement here.

How can participating in Time Banking change and enhance my life?

  • I have a lot of skills but until I joined Time Banking, I haven’t had any place to offer them.

  • I’m short of cash, Time Banking can temporarily help me make ends meet.

  • I’d like to volunteer to help others, and I can’t take on a structured volunteer opportunity because I travel or my schedule changes. Time Banking provides total flexibility for volunteering.

  • My car doesn’t qualify for Grab because it is too old. With Time Banking, I can give rides to people for Time credits.

  • I live alone, and I would like to have a support network. Time Banking can provide assistance in many areas of life.

  • I just moved here and I’d like to find a great way to meet others. Time Bank is a vibrant community with some really, really great people.

  • I could use help with things around the house. Many skills are available at a Time Bank.

  • I don’t think I have any skills to offer anyone. Time Bank will help you know what your skills are. Everybody has skills! We hope you will join us!

RSVP to join.
