• Coworking Spaces (Hotdesk) – kindly keep your laptop away when you’re not using your spot
• Wi-fi Access (100Mbps unlimited)

• Shared bathroom with water heater shower for the cold days
• The basic kitchen with basic cooking utensils, storage and a fridge
• Washing machine & detergents for your laundry needs
• Chillout & Reading corner upstairs (Use of Games e.g. Poker cards, Uno Cards, Congkak, Jengga, books & magazines!)
• For the essentials, we provide towels, pillows, bed sheets, blankets, toilet papers, shampoos, hair dryer, first aid kid
• A weekly cleaning lady who comes to clean the house (including your room, but it’s optional for you)

During your stay duration, we will let you know as soon as a new guest is on board in the other room. (We have only two rooms available for coliving here, so it will be just a tiny crowd.)
Sometimes, you’ll have the whole house to yourselves if there’s no other coliving guests, or especially during public holidays where we have nothing planned.
Your room is at upper floor of the house, while co-working space is lower floor.
Our official operating hour for coworking space is Mon-Fri 10AM-6PM, where we share our space with others. Usually, there’s not much people except 1-2 regulars, hence it can be pretty quiet most of the time. Both of us (Kevin & Elaine) come in daily to work on our laptops here. (we live across the main road, just 15 mins walk away).
When there’s no one around to co-work with you, be sure that Ginger will loyally accompany you throughout the day.
We host social / creative learning events such as Meetups & Workshops (eg. bag painting, drum circles, gardening, etc) in the weekends, sometimes weekday evenings & selected Public Holidays to our local community friends, like-minded curious souls and the neighborhood folks. During this, we will be utilizing the shared co-working space (downstairs) hence it will not be available for work (or too noisy for focus). Your room can still be your quiet sanctuary though. 🙂
Sometimes, we all go out together for breakfast/lunch/dinner at a local restaurant, a run or meditation at the park together, go visit some local events, organize BBQ night, excursions or just sightseeing. It all depends on everyone’s availability. You can always find someone to talk to, but at the same time you can still have your private space where you won’t be disturbed.
We will share our events calendar with you so you can be informed of the activities we do here. You are also welcome to sign up our workshops if you are interested, with a discounted price. Feel free to suggest activities to us!
As part of our coliving community, you can also run your creative workshops here during your stay. To see what kind of workshops/events that we run here, you may look at our Facebook Event page and our Meetup.com page:
Kevin & Elaine are both in our early 40’s, yet the people who walk through our door age ranges from 22 to 60’s, sometimes kids and even retirees. We believe no matter the age, nationality, culture, or beliefs, we can all learn to live, work, play and grow together. We value truthful, respectful and heart-centered connections, hence our little home always welcome conscious creative souls who are interested in stretching the boundaries of themselves to include trusting strangers.
Kevin is into woodworking, UX/UI designing, drumming, cycling, vegan lifestyle and entrepreneurship. Elaine loves art & painting, vegetarian lifestyle, cats, making music, and she currently learns Chinese drumming & Guzheng. We both love daily long walks and meditations to ground ourselves after a hectic day. You are welcome to join our simple life activities as a family when you colive with us!
I spent a month with Kevin and Elaine at The Hatchery Place and absolutely loved the set up they have which is perfect for entrepreneurs and makers. Kevin and Elaine themselves are extremely friendly and will always make you feel welcome. The room was exactly as shown in the pictures and facilities have everything you need. The neighbourhood itself is quiet but there are plenty of restaurants, shops and cafes just ten minutes walk away. Perfect for when you need a change of scenery. The LRT which takes you into the CBD is about 15 minutes walk away or if you don’t want to walk there is a free bus. As for the workspace, it had reliable wifi throughout my whole stay and plenty of different areas to work from including a fantastic standing desk. The atmosphere is relaxed, making it easy to get things done and there’s normally someone else around during business hours to share stories and ideas with. If you’re looking to meet some great people, and get things done in a relaxed environment whilst in KL for a couple of weeks then this is the perfect spot!
The Hatchery is a great place if you’re looking to stay somewhere where you want to feel homely and at the same time get some work done. We stayed there for a week and loved it. There’s a common working area with good lighting, the wifi is very fast, there’s also a kitchen area where you can cook simple meals which is great if, as me, you like preparing your own food and miss it while traveling. There’s also a washing machine that is available for use. The water pressure in the shower is good and the bed is very comfortable. The place is very chilled, the area is nice as there are restaurants and shops not far. Kevin and Elaine were very welcoming. The first night we all went for dinner at a very tasty veg Chinese restaurant. I would definitely recommend staying here.
I had a great time at the Hatchery Place as the hosts Kevin and Elaine are very warm and welcoming. It’s a perfect habitat for people who work online and want to stay in a calm and cozy surrounding. The house is fully equipped up the last detail. You can see that the hosts thought of literally everything. I could get good work done and we had interesting conversations and fun together. Restaurants, streetfood, parks and grocery shops are in walkable distance. Highly recommended for online workers. I will stay here again for sure. Kevin, Elaine, thank you for everything!
This place is clean, internet is fast, looks stylish, good coffee and Elaine and Kevin are great too. I was able to get a lot of work done and slept amazing. Nearby is an area called Taipan where you have a lot of restaurants great for my dinners. Ginger is probably the smartest cat I ever met and also very cute.
I had a really nice stay and would certainly come back. The space is amazing and had great energy. Wifi is lightning fast. Adorable kitten! Super nice people! Grab and Uber are super cheap to go into the city. Everything you need in the shopping center a 10 minutes walk away.
Modern, functional workspace. Well planned out. Rooms clean and comfortable. Wonderfully friendly and helpful hosts. Quiet neighbourhood. Mostly ate out as cheap and large choice. Once you master Grab it’s like a chauffeur at your door – cheap and convenient! Rail to town every five minutes. Take a jumper as it can be freezing on the train. Used four hop on, hop off buses in the city and commentary was intermittent on all. Use the ride to access the different gardens in KL – well worth the money.
Kevin and Elaine were wonderful hosts, the home was extremely stylish and clean and the stay felt extremely personal. Would recommend to anybody, especially creative souls and cat lovers as Ginger was the sweetest cat I’ve ever met. Would definitely be my first choice if staying in Subang Jaya again. Many thanks.
It was lovely: the hosts, the home, the cat, the coworking facilities, everything. Kevin and Elaine made sure we had all we needed, providing guidance on the neighborhood, vegan food options and how to get around KL. Would stay again, thank you so much for having us!
Kevin & Elaine’s place has been a blessing to find. As a vegan myself, they were able to recommend me plenty of restaurants nearby (15 minute walking distance) as well as even eat out with me a few times. They are quick to resolve anything you find, and are very friendly. The place is also great for working. The internet is as advertised, so fast and unlimited. Looking forward to spending another month here!
Kevin and Elaine have a steal at The Hatchery Place. It’s in a quiet suburban area that is perfect for people who want to focus on work, but still be around the attractions. It’s near a great food center with tons of food options and Kevin and Elaine were fast to recommend be the best spots to eat. Sunway Pyramid is super close to the place as well and that mall has everything you could think of wanting. You can also sightsee with some nearby attractions by Sunway Pyramid just minutes away by Uber. I definitely recommend staying here because it felt like home during my stay. I felt very comfortable and relaxed and love the way the work area is set up. It’s just an overall comfortable experience. Thanks for they stay Kevin and Elaine!
The Hatchery Place is so amazing!! We had a great time there!! You have much space and nice people arround you! The room was very cozy and I love the style in the whole house 🙂 Elaine and Kevin are really cool people and helped us where they can. Downstairs is a Co-working Space which has really good influence on your mind. I was never that concentrated in my life! The shops and restaurants are near by and can be reached in 5 minutes walking, only manko the next train/bus station is not arround the corner but we used the uber taxi to get along. We loved it!
The Hatchery Place is just a lot more than an airbnb or a place to stay/work. It’s the vision and passion of two local entrepreneurs that has shaped into, amongst others, a community of like minded people and a space to pursue projects. At the moment of this writing I’ve been living here for 4 months and I’ve become really good friends with many community members. As a solo traveler/digital nomad, this place has provided me with the community I was hoping to find. I was prepared to stay only for a couple weeks if I didn’t like it but turns out I did like it (I am planning to stay 2-4 more months). The space is a fully functional house, the kitchen is simple and small but it does the job, I cook most of the days simple yummy stuff.
Elaine, thanks again for your warm welcome and for sharing your authentic self with me. I feel very grateful that life lead me here. You and Kevin are truly inspiring people, as well as all the other guests that I had the chance to meet. Looking forward to see you again!
You have a private room with a comfortable queen-sized futon bed (re-purposed wood pallet bed frame which we built ourselves), equipped with its own air-conditioning unit, a ceiling fan, small writing desk, a chair, and a small Ikea storage shelf. The room is bright, cheerful, serene & quiet, perfect for writers. Room can fit two person / couple.
This is a private room at Kevin & Elaine’s home, 15 mins walk across the main road in the same suburb with Aircon, sofa bed and working desk in the room. At times, we house folks here for those who still like to stay in this area and don’t mind the walk to The Hatchery Place during the day to connect with others to cowork. Our house has unlimited WIFI, a dining table to use as working desk when not eating, a complete (shared) kitchen, the bathroom has a rain shower and a TV room for movie, which you can use. We also have a cat living with us. Free coworking access to The Hatchery Place.
This is Elaine’s private art studio room, upstairs at The Hatchery Place. Sometimes, she does not utilize the room, so it will be available for artist residency / creative coliving. It is very cozy and full of light! Great space to create whole year through in warm Malaysia. It comes with an attached bathroom, a ceiling fan, a sofa bed (with bedding for sleeping), 2 desks, an easel, and all the facilities of a coliving space in the same creative house. The person who will rent this studio should be also an artist herself. Not included in for usage (but placed in the studio for storage & Elaine’s own use) are – her painting tools & supplies, canvases, Elaine’s artworks & art merchandise. Only selected applicants, subjected to availability.
